Stuart Covington, Master craftsman, Renaissance man
My father owned a retail lumber yard, Covington Lumber Company, in Jacksonville Florida and I worked for him all my young life. He was a skilled carpenter as well and I had become quite adept at using tools of the trade as a teenager. I learned the retail business as well including customer service.
I was also interested in music, electrical and mechanical things, I loved the drums and anything with a motor on it, or a wire attached to it. I am very mechanically inclined as well due to all the motors I took apart to see what made them tick.
My passion of music led me to become a professional musician out of college, where my major was electrical engineering. band photos The music business is fickle, so in between gigs, I would strap on the belt and pound nails. I followed my passion into the 80’s before returning to the business of carpentry and the hobby of music.
My interest in music was parallel to my interest in recording. I have been plugging into tape recorders almost as long as playing drums.
My wife Elizabeth and I designed built our dream house in 1999 which includes my recording studio in a separate building that I designed and built as well. www.powerhousestudio.com
I find a lot in common with the creative musician and builder in me. It is all art to be appreciated and I love them both. I have been a hard worker all my life in whatever I do, and I like doing things right with the highest quality I can produce. My quality of work is my reputation, and I take it seriously. I have been “Carpentryplus” for over 20 years.
More Hobbies: I was the president of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle club, from 2007-2009. WWW.VJMC.org, I started my love of motorcycles with a Honda Sport 50 that I saved money for 2 years to buy and rode to school in the 9th grade. I started collecting vintage Hondas in the early 80’s.
